Australia captain Melissa Wu has moved into the 10m platform semi-finals at the world titles in Russia on Wednesday.

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games silver medallist Wu, 23, finished 11th (320.80 points) in the 37-strong preliminary round at Kazan.

China's Ren Qian (411.40) led the elite women's field ahead of compatriot Si Yajie (377.75).

Wu - the sole Australian in the field - was 24th after her third dive but did enough in her final two efforts off the platform to almost crack the top 10.

The semi-finals start at 10pm AEST.
