Australian diver Melissa Wu has picked up a bronze medal at the World Series event in Dubai, the strong performance once again showing her Olympic medal potential.

The Dubai competition echoed this year's World Cup and Beijing World Series events, with two Chinese divers edging the 23-year-old out of a top-two placing.

Huixia Liu took out gold and fellow Chinese diver Yajie Si picked up the silver with Wu less than 15 points behind first place.

Wu is aiming for a third Olympic games this year, and recent solid performances at Olympic-class events put her in real medal contention.

Olympic selection trials will get underway in May.
