The Nick Xenophon Team says South Australians are smart enough to make their own judgment on negative attacks by the major parties.

Senator Xenophon's fledgling group on Friday drew sixth spot on South Australia's Senate ballot paper, with Labor in second place, the Greens fourth and the Liberals eighth.

The major parties have taken aim at the NXT's relatively unknown candidates amid fears the group could win up to four Senate seats in SA.

NXT campaign manager and Senate candidate Stirling Griff said he was confident voters would see the value of having "as many candidates elected as possible".

"We know that we've done a fantastic job of bringing Labor and the Liberals together - they both hate us," Mr Griff told AAP.

"They are going to be mounting a very full-on campaign for the next three or four weeks and a lot of it will be using their dirt units that they both have to try and attack our individual candidates.

"We think the public will see through what is happening."

Seniors advocacy group Mature Australia landed top spot on the SA Senate ballot paper in the Australian Electoral Commission's random draw in Adelaide.

Campaign spokeswoman Lyndal Denny told AAP senior Australians were being overlooked in the election campaign and the group hoped to win support from SA's "grey army".
