Cloud accounting firm Xero has appointed former Microsoft Australia and New Zealand boss Steve Vamos as chief executive.
Mr Vamos, who has also worked at IBM and Apple, will succeed founder Rod Drury in April.
Mr Drury, who will become a non-executive director, said he was proud of the company he started in 2006 with just four people in a Wellington apartment.
Xero now employs more than 2,000 people across eight countries.
"It's been a huge 11-plus years building Xero," Mr Drury said in a statement on Monday.
"I'm so proud of the Xero team, the community that's formed around us, the positive impact we've had on our customers, and the shareholder value we've created."
He said the cloud accounting provider recently passed key milestones and had entered its next phase of growth.
"It's now the right time for me to pass the baton to Steve, who has the experience to significantly expand Xero internationally," Mr Drury said.
Mr Vamos said he was excited to lead the company.
"Xero is a special company with an extremely important purpose and significant opportunities," Mr Vamos said.
