Xie calls lawyers 'blood suckers': court

In a series of recorded conversations between accused murderer Robert Xie and a fellow inmate, Xie allegedly describes lawyers as "vampires".

Accused murderer Robert Xie allegedly described lawyers as "blood suckers" in a conversation with a fellow inmate and said he wanted to get out of jail so he could sue for wrongful imprisonment.

For the second time this week, a former fellow inmate-turned-informer - known only as Witness A - took the stand at the Supreme Court trial to give evidence against the man accused of killing five members of the Lin family in July 2009.

In one exchange that took place in June 2012, a transcript of the recording states Xie told Witness A at Long Bay jail he would have spent half a million dollars on legal costs from his arrest in 2011 until his committal proceedings later in 2012.

In a conversation that is at times inaudible, the transcript states Xie says of lawyers: "They are like, ahh, I don't know what to say in English. In Chinese say blood sucker ... They like, ahh, vampire. Vampire, right?"

Xie is then reported as saying he wants to get bail before trial.

"Because once this happen then I can chase the ... I can sue them, for the wrong charge and the wrong imprisonment," he allegedly says.

"They have done something wrong. But that will take a long time," he adds.

In another recording from a month earlier, Witness A can be heard telling Xie: "Remember you show me the trick to stop the heart with the neck ... Don't show this to anybody, ever.

"If police don't know about your martial art experience, don't tell anybody."

Xie later allegedly tells Witness A: "But you know, in Daily Telegraph it looks like the police have very strong evidence coming on the way ... But actually there is none."

Xie denies murdering five members of his wife Kathy Lin's family in the bedrooms of their North Epping home in Sydney's northwest on July 18, 2009.

The Crown alleges he was motivated by intense bitterness and hatred when he attacked his brother-in-law Min, his wife Lily, her sister Irene and their sons Henry, 12, and Terry,9.

The trial continues.
