Yacht searched, men charged over 20kg meth

A yacht is being searched and three men have been charged in connection to a 20kg methamphetamine haul in Perth.

A third man has been charged over a $20 million methamphetamine haul in Perth.

The first two arrests came after police searched an Osborne Park storage unit on Tuesday, allegedly finding 20 kilograms of the drugs, $910,000 in cash, 11 guns including a sawn-off shotgun and a home-made machine gun, and two ballistic vests.

Police then found the two men, aged 33 and 34, on board a yacht near the Montebello Islands off the Dampier coast on Wednesday night.

They have faced Karratha Magistrates Court, charged with possessing prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply, and have been remanded in custody to appear in court again on August 19.

"It will be alleged that the men involved obtained this methamphetamine from a syndicate with the express intention of selling the dangerous drug in the streets of WA," WA Police Assistant Commissioner Michelle Fyfe told reporters.

The boat, which was brought to shore, is being forensically examined.

Four other people on board were detained but were not charged and were simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time", police said.

A third man, a member of the Coffin Cheaters bikie gang, aged 31, was charged on Friday with offences related to the guns, vests and cash.

"I am very happy to have this large amount of (meth)amphetamine in our possession and headed towards the incinerator," Assistant Commissioner Fyfe said.

"The drug causes significant harm and that harm is not just to the user.

"None of us are immune to the scourge of this drug."

She said drug syndicates are swamping WA streets with more and more methamphetamine, but police are also increasing their efforts to combat the dealers.

She said police are limited in what they can say about the case, including whether there are any international connections, because the investigation is continuing.
