Young carer education grants extended

Young carers offered grants to pursue education have been given another year of funding certainty.

Young Australians offered education scholarships while they provide care for loved ones have been given another year of funding certainty.

The Turnbull government confirmed on Wednesday it would give $1 million to the Young Carer Bursary Program in 2018, which gives carers up to 25 years of age $3000 to help pursue education.

"The bursaries help improve young carers' education and reduce the pressure on them to work part-time to meet education costs," Assistant Social Services Minister Jane Prentice said.
