Sydney Roosters youngster Grant Garvey is facing a potential 10-game suspension after being slugged with a grade four dangerous throw charge in Saturday's Holden Cup trial match against Manly.
Garvey will miss eight matches if he takes the early guilty plea and should the hooker opt to fight the charge and lose the penalty will be extended to 10.
It is the heaviest sanction imposed by the match review committee since the NRL's head of football Todd Greenberg announced get-tough measures following the serious spinal injury sustained by Newcastle's Alex McKinnon last year.
