Emerging Sydney Roosters forward Willis Meehan has voluntarily stood down from the NRL club over an alleged robbery outside Star Casino early on Sunday morning.
The former Australian Schoolboy will face court next month on charges of robbery in company and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The alleged incident occurred on early Sunday morning with the 19-year-old playing in the Roosters' big National Youth Competition win over Cronulla later that afternoon.
Meehan stood down from his duties with the Roosters on Tuesday and the NRL integrity unit has been made aware of the incident.
"The Sydney Roosters are aware of an incident involving nineteen year-old Willis Meehan on the night of Saturday, April 4 that has resulted in Willis being charged by police," the Roosters said in a statement.
"Willis has voluntarily stood down from all club duties awaiting further outcomes and the NRL integrity unit is aware of the incident.
"The matter will go to court next month and as this matter is before the court, no further comment will be made at this time."
According to police Meehan was involved in a robbery in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont.
Police allege Meehan and his accomplice forced another man against a wall, before Meehan head-butted him and the other man stole his watch.
The police say CCTV footage shows the alleged incident on Union St at around 2.30am on Sunday morning.
Meehan has been granted conditional bail and will appear in Downing Centre Local Court on May 6.
The son of professional boxer Kali Meehan, Willis, nicknamed "Mean Hands", is a talented boxer in his own right.
He narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last year.
He made his sole NRL appearance for the club last year.
