Youth charged over crowbar assault

An 18-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly struck an older man with a crowbar in Sydney.

A young man has been charged after he allegedly hit an older man with a crowbar, after intervening in a domestic dispute.

The 18-year-old allegedly intervened when the 53-year-old victim began arguing with his wife on a footbridge in Camperdown on Friday.

The younger man walk the woman off the bridge, but was then threatened by the older man, police say.

The 18-year-old then allegedly struck the man with a crowbar and stayed on the scene where he was arrested by police and later charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

The older man remains in hospital in a stable condition.
