Gold Coast fullback William Zillman wants the current Titans playing group to be given a shot at NRL redemption in 2015.
Interim coach Neil Henry revealed on Sunday he would love to bring a marquee name to the Titans next season if he takes on the position fulltime.
Queensland and Australia back Darius Boyd appears to be top of his wishlist with the future of the Newcastle star still very much up in the air.
"He is a quality player and he is from the Coast," Henry told Sydney's Triple M radio station.
"We'd certainly look at him down here."
But Zillman says the current Titans roster is good enough to succeed and should be given the chance to redeem themselves next season before any sweeping changes are made.
"It'd be a boost for any club," Zillman told AAP about possibly securing Boyd.
"In saying that we've probably shown in patches this year that we've got a football team here that can go a long way, we just need to become more consistent.
"Whoever takes over next year, it's up to us as a playing group to find that consistency and make the top eight."
One bright spot amid the gloom in the Titans' year has been the mid-season recruitment of youngster James Roberts.
The ex-South Sydney and Penrith prospect scored his fifth try in just his ninth start for the Titans with an explosive broken play run against the Sea Eagles.
Zillman believes the club might have snared a gem in the 21-year-old.
"He's a great young talent," Zillman said.
"Extremely fast and strong. He really has got a lot of good attributes there and been outstanding for us in the centres since he's come in there.
"Hopefully he can stay at the club long term and flourish into a really good football player."
