Peter Charley

Executive Producer Peter Charley talks about the lengths the Dateline team will go to in order to get the stories.

Over the past 30 years, the program's team of video journalists have been to warzones and troublespots across the planet to find their stories.

Peter says the stories he's most proud of as a producer were about the plight of refugees who'd fled North Korea.

Reporter Jung-Eun Kim spent a year filming undercover as they struggled to survive hiding in the forests of China.

The story from 2000, On Life's Border, went on to win a Walkley Award, and a year later was followed by an update looking at what had happened to some of the refugees, Border Lives.

Peter also talks further about these stories in Dateline's 30th anniversary special.
