Hundreds of people armed with fluffy pillows have battled it out in London for International Pillow Fight Day.

For the sixth year in a row, Trafalgar Square was invaded for an hour as Londoners let their inhibitions go and attacked strangers with gusto.

Some people got so enthusiastic about the event that their pillows ripped and feathers flew into the air.

London was just one of more than 100 cities around the world to take part in the event.

The pillow fights are seen as a way to get people outside and relieve stress, organisers said.

Participants to the annual event, organised by Urban Playground Movement, were not allowed to hit anyone with a camera, or anyone not armed with a pillow.
