Nearly three years ago Sevak Simonian went missing - his family have not heard a word from him since.
An experienced and confident bushwalker, his parents and two brother's were at first unconcerned, expecting him to return after a lengthy hike.
But he never showed, and they have been left devastated, searching for answers, ever since.
Authorities and volunteers, along with the family, which included father, Masiss, spent weeks searching for him in the Greater Blue Mountains where his car was located. But rough terrain made searching difficult and eventually after no sign of him, the search was called off.
But Masiss holds out hope that he will come back.
"Every day and morning when I wake up I look out my window, I say 'oh, he's going to come, he's going to come'," Masiss said.
But life has not been easy for the family since Sevak's disappearance. When Masiss gets home he can't bring himself to go inside for at least 10 minutes.
"I don't want to go home," he said.
"The house is, the house is cold...no one is there. To me it's just...very cold, [the] house is cold and freezing."
And while his family famous kebabs were Sevak's favourite, he can now hardly bring himself to make them.
"Since then I would never make kebab because I said 'he's not there and only once there was a couple of weeks ago, I make some kebab'," he said.
"I said 'oh, Sevak, oh, I wish you could smell dad's kebab, come home. This is what I'm making for you'."
