When does obsession cross the line?
Insight guests Lucie and Sandra are both very particular about how they get certain things done. For Lucie, it’s harmless and something she enjoys. For Sandra, it’s something far more serious. Watch the two videos above to see how they go about their lives at home.
About Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
OCD is an anxiety disorder where you have repeated unwanted thoughts and feel you have to do certain things.
It is characterised by:
- Obsessions (recurring intrusive thoughts), and
- Compulsions (repetitive, ritualistic behaviours).
What causes OCD?
The exact causes aren't clear. Research indicates it's likely that thinking styles, brain chemistry, brain structures, stressful events and hormones all play a part. Genetic factors also play a role.
