Trump's 'ceasefire' deadline passes, but Israel and Iran offer no clarity
A ceasefire between Iran and Israel would have just come into effect if Donald Trump's announcement of a break in fighting is accurate.

Trump said earlier today Iran and Israel would end hostilities at 7am local time in Israel, and 7.30am local time in Iran, which is 2pm AEST.

Neither Israel nor Iran has confirmed that a ceasefire from this time would be honoured, with the latter's foreign minister saying no agreement has been reached.

Israel has also just issued another warning of incoming missiles — the fifth alert it has issued since US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire.

Three killed in Israel during latest Iranian missile strike
Iran has continued to fire missiles at Israel, with the Israeli military reporting a third volley just recently launched.

Israel army says Iranian missiles fired 'short while ago'
Israel's military says a new salvo of missiles has been fired from Iran, just minutes after it declared an earlier attack had subsided.

Air raid sirens were sounded in multiple regions across the country, prompting renewed warnings for civilians to take cover.

"A short while ago, sirens sounded in several areas across Israel following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel," the Israeli military said in a statement posted to Telegram.

The announcement came shortly after authorities had advised the public that a previous strike had concluded and it was safe to exit bomb shelters.

Anthony Albanese urges implementation of ceasefire
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has welcomed Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, but urged that it must now be implemented.

Speaking to Sky News, Albanese said Australia supports diplomacy over escalation and reiterated his government's longstanding position that Iran must not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.

However, uncertainty continues to cloud the situation.

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has denied any formal agreement has been reached but signalled Tehran would cease its attacks if Israel ends what it calls the latter's "illegal aggression" by 4am local time.

The Israeli military has issued two evacuation alerts in Tehran in the past 24 hours, raising further doubts over whether a ceasefire is actually taking hold.

Israel-Iran ceasefire is a 'vital step', the Opposition says

What we know so far about the Israel-Iran ceasefire
Information on the ceasefire between Israel and Iran has been scarce so far, with no official comment from either nation.

SBS News reporter Cameron Carr has taken a closer look at the latest developments and claims being made about the deal, which is hoped to bring an end to the 12-day conflict.

Ceasefire will 'last forever' Trump tells US news outlet
US President Donald Trump has told NBC News he expects the Israel-Iran ceasefire to last "forever".

Trump announced the ceasefire at around 8am AEST on social media, but neither Israel nor Iran has commented so far.

"I think the ceasefire is unlimited. It's going to go forever," he said.

He said the ceasefire indicates "a wonderful day for the world".

A senior White House official told Reuters that Trump brokered the agreement over a phone call with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel has reportedly agreed to the ceasefire so long as Iran does not launch any fresh attacks, and Iran has signalled it would abide by the agreement, the official said.

US vice president JD Vance, secretary of state Marco Rubio and US special envoy Steve Witkoff held direct and indirect contact with the Iranians, according to the same source.

The phone call came after US President Donald Trump told Qatar's emir that Israel had agreed to the ceasefire and asked for Qatar's help persuading Iran to also agree to the ceasefire deal, the official said.

Qatar Airways resumes flights as airspace reopens
Some grounded flights in Qatar will now be preparing to fly, after the state announced its airspace has reopened following Iranian missile strikes on a US air base in the country.

Qatar Airways confirmed it would be one of the carriers resuming its flights.
"Our focus at this time is to help our passengers return home or reach their onward journey safely and smoothly," Qatar Airways wrote on social media.

"We've deployed extra ground staff at Hamad International Airport to support you as we resume operations."

Meanwhile, Air India has "ceased all operations to the region as well as to and from the East Coast of North America and Europe with immediate effect," a spokesperson said earlier this morning.

"We will keep our passengers informed of any updates. The safety and security of our passengers and staff remain our number one priority."

Questions over the 'legality' of US strikes on Iran
French President Emmanuel Macron has spoken out about the US strikes on Iran, raising questions over the "legality" of the military operation.

"There is no framework of legality in these strikes, even if France shares the objective not to see Iran acquire nuclear weapons," Macron said, according to Reuters.

"I believe in the sovereignty of peoples and territorial integrity ... so I don't think we can take the place of a people to change its leaders."
A faction within Donald Trump's MAGA base is also questioning his decision to bomb Iran.

The strikes, which were carried out without consulting US Congress, have caused some Republicans to break ranks with Trump and join Democrats in criticising the move.

Coalition leader denounces Iran over 'provocative act'
Opposition leader Sussan Ley has condemned Iran's attack on the US air base in Qatar in "the strongest possible terms".

"We note President [Donald] Trump has said the United States was provided with prior notice to prevent loss of life and injury," she said on Tuesday morning.

"That said, this provocative act is a violation of Qatari sovereignty."

The Coalition reaffirmed its support for the US' coordinated assaults on Iranian nuclear infrastructure.

On Sunday morning, 125 US aircraft dropped 14 "bunker buster" bombs on three Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.

Ley encouraged the prime minister to engage in talks with Trump.

"President Trump may be seeking meetings with IP4 nations, including Australia at NATO; we continue to urge Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to attend.

"Now is a time for Australia to stand with the United States, and Anthony Albanese should be taking every opportunity to do so."
