Scott Morrison is promising to spend more than $250 million on choked roads and car parks across Sydney and the NSW Central Coast.
In the latest of a string of "congestion-busting" national road and rail funding announcements, the prime minister says Sydney drivers know better than anyone the impacts of crippling traffic congestion.
"We are doing something about the pinch points and bottlenecks that lie at the heart of the problem," Mr Morrison said on Wednesday.
The package includes funding for The Horsley Drive in Sydney's south-west, King Georges Road in the city's south and Homebush Bay Drive in the west.
The government also plans to invest $50 million in commuter car parking.
Cities Minister Alan Tudge said the funding was designed to eliminate congestion where it was hurting the most.
"This is not only the major freeways but the local pinch points which cause daily headaches to commuters," he said.
