The chief executive of the Business Council says the eighth Australia-China CEO Roundtable in Beijing represents an important opportunity to further two-way economic growth.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Premier Li Qiang will be at the roundtable, alongside senior business leaders from Australia and China.

It is the first time the roundtable has been held in Beijing since 2016 - and comes as the Chinese-Australian free trade agreement passes its 10th anniversary.

Business Council of Australia CEO Bran Black says the event is an important chance to identify areas of growth.

"It sends a signal that partnership and engagement as between Australia and Chinese businesses is not only something to be welcomed, but something that we should actively encourage. Secondly, what we're pleased by is that we will have the opportunity today to engage directly with Chinese businesses in relation to a number of key areas where we see scope to further enhance relationship. In areas like agribusiness, professional services, financial services."

A review by the Reserve Bank has recommended an end to debit and credit card surcharges in Australia - in a move that would save consumers and businesses $1.2 billion a year.

The central bank reviewed merchant card payment costs and has recommended the fees be scrapped on EFTPOS, Mastercard and Visa card transactions as they don't help consumers make more efficient payment choices.

It also calls for lowering the cap on what's called the interchange fees paid by businesses.

The fee is paid by a business to a customer's card issuer when a transaction occurs.

The changes would fall under the central bank's existing powers and would not require legislation to take effect.

The commencement date for the changes is July next year following a period of consultation.

Traditional Owner Uncle Pabai Pabai says a lot of weight is being placed on the outcome of a Federal Court case that will be handed down this afternoon.

At risk of becoming Australia's first climate refugees, Uncle Paul Kabai and Uncle Pabai Pabai filed the landmark case against the government in the Federal Court in 2021.

They claim it failed to protect their homelands among the Torres Strait Islands from climate change.

They are seeking orders from the court that would require the government to take steps to prevent harm to their communities, including cutting greenhouse gas emissions in line with the best available science.

The court heard evidence communities on Boigu and Saibai - in the Torres Strait - could have less than 30 years left before their islands become uninhabitable.

Uncle Pabai Pabai says after four years, it will be important to hear the outcome.

"We will be feeling emotion because I believe that this is my legacy to my people. Not only to myself to the future generations. This is what is being handed down. We - at this stage now - this is my majority of the case to be done - to win for the people of the younger generation."

Western Sydney University says it will use a prestigious grant from the Gates Foundation to research how health professionals can improve their understanding of heavy menstrual bleeding and related health issues. Professor Robert Gorkin from the Translational Health Research Institute will lead a project to better manage the condition, helping to reduce stigma and confusion for those affected, while significantly improving quality of life for women worldwide.

HMB is one of the most underdiagnosed reproductive health conditions globally, with estimates suggesting it affects up to one in four women. It is frequently associated with treatable underlying conditions and can impose serious physical, emotional, and social burdens.

In cricket, Mitchell Starc has produced one of the all-time great opening spells and Scott Boland took a hat-trick, as Australia bowled West Indies out for 27 to win the third Test.

On a historic day in Jamaica, Australia's quicks helped to deliver a 176-run victory and claim a 3-nil series sweep in the fight for the Frank Worrell Trophy.

Boland is only the 10th Australian to claim a Test hat-trick.

Starc is the fourth Australian to take 400 wickets amid the fastest five-wicket haul in Test history.

He told ESPN, he is proud to have contributed to the team's overall result.

"We obviously saw last night the conditions with a hard newish pink ball under lights is pretty difficult. We didn't think it would happen as quickly today until the sun went down a bit. But whether it was the wind. It was pretty blustery today, a bit strong but I think our bowling attack has been pretty on the money through the series and today was another case of that."
