Jewish Australians will share their lived experiences at public hearings today as part of the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion.
Peter Wertheim from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry says he hopes the inquiry will reveal the full extent of antisemitism.
The inquiry was established after the Bondi Beach terror attack on the 14th of December last year.
Mr Wertheim says he hopes the the final recommendations will help prevent a repeat of what occurred at Bondi.
"From that I hope there will be some recommendations of how that will be addressed through the combination of different measures, not only from government but also from different sectors of society so that something like this can never happen again."

Police are urging people in the Northern Territory to respect the legal process after they laid charges over the case of a five-year-old girl who disappeared from a community near Alice Springs.
Police have charged 47-year-old Jefferson Lewis with murder for allegedly killing Kumanjayi Little Baby.
He is also facing two other charges that cannot be published for legal reasons.
Northern Territory Police Commissioner Martin Dole says the man will be put before the court.
"This matter is now before the courts and, as a result, it would be inappropriate for the police to provide further comment or discuss in detail the events. I would ask that the community respect the judicial process and I would also ask the community continue to respect the family as they continue to process their deep grief and sorrow."

A cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz has been attacked, as Iran and the US review proposals to end the war.
The British military's Maritime Trade Operations centre says the vessel was assailed by multiple small craft, marking at least two dozen attacks in and around the strait since the war began.
News of the attack has come as United States President Donald Trump has said he is reviewing a proposal from Iran to end the war.
Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it set a 30-day deadline for the US military to end its blockade of ports, adding President Trump “must choose between an impossible military operation or a bad deal”.

The husband of jailed Iranian Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi has voiced strong concern for the 54-year-old's health.
Taghi Rahmani has said his wife experienced a cardiac crisis in the latest medical scare for the human rights lawyer, and is now in critical condition in northwestern Iran, two days after she was brought to hospital from prison.
Ms Mohammadi won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023 but she's been jailed multiple times following criticism of Iran's government.
Her husband has told Sky News the regime is blocking her transfer to Tehran for much-needed medical care.
"This time in Mashhad, Narges suffered from high blood pressure — the blows to her chest, head, and body have caused injuries that her body isn't ready for. She has the mental resilience for imprisonment, but her body does not have the readiness. I think the Ministry of Intelligence wouldn't even mind if they (prisoners) died. Because the relations with the European Union are not good right now, human rights issues are not being raised, and the situation is one of war—and this worries us greatly."

An organisation that helps women deal with the grief associated with losing a mother says the grief is lifelong and can also have an economic impact.
Motherless Daughters Australia says nearly three in four grieving daughters report career disruption and 91 per cent have reduced their working hours.
Co-founder Danielle Snelling - who lost her mother at the age of 23 - says losing a mother can have an incredible impact on one's emotional wellbeing for years, not just in the immediate aftermath.
"What is worrying though is that these impacts often go widely unrecognised despite having such a long term impact on people's financial security, career progression and stability."

In football, Sam Kerr has become Chelsea's all-time top goalscorer in the Women's Super League.
The Australian scored her 64th goal in the Women's Super League that helped Chelsea achieve its 3-1 win against Leicester.
The result ensures the Blues will be playing Champions League football again next season with third place guaranteed.
