A power struggle in Sudan threatens to derail the move towards democracy and a civilian government, following a coup in 2021.


Army leaders and a paramilitary group worked together to bring about that coup, now they are at odds over a key term under a deal on the country's transition to democracy.

Both parties blame each other for heavy fighting that has erupted in Sudan's capital.
