President Donald Trump says the ceasefire with Iran is "on life support", after dismissing Iran's response to a US peace proposal as stupid.

Iran on Sunday released a response focused on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, where US ally Israel is fighting Iran-backed Hezbollah militants.

Tehran also demanded compensation for war damage, emphasised its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and called on the US to end its naval blockade, guarantee no further attacks, lift sanctions and remove a ban on Iranian oil sales.

The US had proposed an end to fighting before starting talks on more contentious issues, including Iran's nuclear program.

Mr Trump says Iran's response is unacceptable.

"I would say it's one of the weakest right now. It's on life support. I would say the ceasefire is on massive life support, where the doctor walks in and says, 'sir, your loved one has approximately a 1% chance of living."

Police say a body believed to be that of alleged triple murderer Julian Ingram has been found in western New South Wales.

The 37-year-old had been on the run since January, after Sophie Quinn, Nerida Quinn and John Harris were fatally shot near Lake Cargelligo.

The body was found by National Parks and Wildlife Service workers carrying out feral animal control in the Round Hill Nature Reserve.

Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland says the discovery may bring some relief to the community.

"There's been hundreds of police involved. Obviously it's been a relief for them to find this body, again yet to be confirmed as Julian Ingram. But the main thing is that it brings closure to this investigation, it brings closure to the people of Lake Cargelligo; and it gives some solace to the people of the town so they can relax."

Australians evacuated from the hantavirus-hit cruise ship have departed Spain’s Canary Islands on a government-supported charter flight.

Four Australian citizens, one permanent resident and a New Zealand national left Tenerife overnight, with medical staff onboard the Perth-bound flight.

None of the passengers are showing symptoms, but they will undergo quarantine and health checks on arrival in Australia.

Health Minister Mark Butler says the quarantine measures are precautionary.

"I want to stress that our primary responsibility as a government, obviously, is to keep our community safe and healthy. We also have a responsibility to those passengers to bring them home and to protect them from any risk - no matter how small - of potentially transmitting the virus without knowing it."

The Greens have accused the federal government of prioritising defence spending over essential services, ahead of today’s federal budget.

The party says Labor should focus on strengthening healthcare, housing and disability support, rather than increasing military spending.

Greens senator Larissa Waters has criticised proposed savings linked to the NDIS, arguing vulnerable Australians are being left behind during a cost-of-living crisis.

"Now Labour are saying they they will cut money from the NDIS, leave 160,000 people behind - cut money to essential services but somehow they can still find 53 billion dollars for war and for weapons to appease Donald Trump."

The federal government says budget savings measures are aimed at making the NDIS sustainable, while continuing to invest in essential services and national security.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has made an impassioned plea to both his party and voters to stick with him - and avoid a leadership contest he said would only bring chaos.

Four ministerial aides have announced they're resigning, after his party suffered the worst local election results for a governing party in more than three decades last week.

That also prompted a former junior minister to threaten to seek a leadership contest, if he fails to offer radical change.

Mr Starmer says he plans to bring forward policies, including a "big leap" towards closer ties with the European Union, which he says would be a platform to build upon in the future.

"I know that people are frustrated by the state of Britain, frustrated by politics, and some people frustrated with me. I know I have my doubters, and I know I need to prove them wrong, and I will."

In cricket, teen batting prodigy Oliver Peake has been called into Australia’s one day international squad for the first time.

The 19-year-old Victorian is one of several new faces picked for the upcoming tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Mitchell Marsh will captain the squads, with a number of senior players unavailable because of Indian Premier League commitments.

Glenn Maxwell has been left out of the Twenty20 squad, choosing instead to play Major League Cricket in the US.

Chief selector George Bailey says it’s exciting to give new players a chance at international level.
