US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken is making another visit to the Middle East as fears of escalating regional conflicts heighten following recent attacks.
The Secretary of State will visit Turkey, Greece, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the West Bank and Egypt during his extended Middle East trip.
US concerns over the escalation of regional conflict have heightened after recent attacks in the Red Sea and increasing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller spoke to reporters about the visit.
"The risk is real. The concern is high. It has always been real and the concern has always been high. And that's why the tempo of activity you have seen from this administration to try to lower the risk of widespread regional conflagration has also been high from the beginning. There have been a series of events since October 7th, any number of which raise the risk of further escalation and further conflict. And it's why you've seen us try to take a measured approach."

One of the most historic cities in Japan has been left scarred in the aftermath of the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that rocked the west coast of the nation on New Year's Day.
Over 200 buildings have collapsed in the old market in Wajima City, one of the most attractive tourist locations in the area, with a fire spreading between the old wooden buildings.
According to the latest data, 78 people have been killed in Ishikawa Prefecture due to the earthquake, with 44 of them in Wajima.
A local resident says he didn't expect the earthquake to be so disastrous.
"I have never experienced anything like this. I know Japan is a country with frequent earthquake, I heard rumours about damages from quake in Kansai area and I heard that it is as bad as that."
Meanwhile, local residents have expressed concerns over the state of the Shika Nuclear Power Plant, which was close to the epicentre of the earthquake.

Jordan Thompson will be up against the ultimate challenge as he prepares to take on a rejuvenated Rafael Nadal for a place in the Brisbane International semi-finals.
The 29-year-old, who had a walkover qualification over French fourth ranked Ugo Humbert to the quarter-finals, will have his work cut out for him at the Pat Rafter Arena.
The Spaniard, who had no issues against fellow Aussie Jason Kubler in the previous round, beating him 6-1 6-2, appears to have returned to full form ahead of the Australian Open.
Nadal says his body appears to be responding well after his return to the courts following a series of injuries.
"The positive thing is, first two matches haven’t been super long matches. Of course, I had some feelings after the first match, I mean I’d been a year without playing with the tension of a real match. So I felt a little bit some muscles tired here and there."
