The federal government has stood by its decision to no longer allow thousands of Iranians with temporary visas to enter the country.
More than 7000 Iranian temporary visa holders will be blocked over concerns they might be unable or unwilling to return home amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Critics have argued the move is designed to prevent Iranians making onshore claims for asylum out of fear for their safety, like some members of the Iranian women's football team did earlier in March.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke says the Australian government is closely monitoring global developments and will adjust settings as required to ensure Australia's migration system remains orderly, fair and sustainable.

Meta must pay millions to a young woman in the US after a jury found the company knowingly harmed children’s mental health and concealed what it knew about child sexual exploitation on its social media platforms.
The California jury has ordered the company to pay at least $3 million to the 20 year old plaintiff, who had argued she became addicted to social media as a child.
Meta and YouTube have also been found liable in a similar case in New Mexico.
Chief judge Bryan Biedscheid says that jury determined Meta prioritised profits over safety.
"So, on question one, did META violate the Unfair Practices Act by engaging in an unfair or deceptive trade practice? The jury answers yes. Question two, did Meta act willfully by engaging an unfair or deceptions trade practice? The answer is yes."

London police say their investigation into an arson attack on four Jewish owned ambulances in Golders Green is ongoing, after the arrest of two suspects.
Head of Counter Terrorism Policing Helen Flanagan says CCTV footage suggested there were at least three people involved in torching the vehicles, which belonged to Hatzola, a group that works with the National Health Service to provide emergency services to areas with a large Jewish population.
Meanwhile the London Ambulance Service has loaned the group vehicles so it can keep responding to calls.
Hatzola's chair Shlmoimie Richman says everyone is concerned about what happened - but they are determined to keep moving forward.
"We can't we don't have time to sit and grieve and, you know, cry over this event. We need to move on and continue the service that we provide. We have dedicated volunteers whose sole purpose in life when they give up time from their families and work is to save lives.”

Tropical Cyclone Narelle is forecast to impact the Pilbara coast of Western Australia as a severe category four system tonight.
The cyclone strengthened to a category three system this morning, with winds up to 180 kilometres an hour.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jess Crusel says Narelle will turn south tomorrow.
"However the exact location and timing of the crossing will depend on how quickly the system begins to turn. If it turns quickly, we could see a crossing further north in the northwest cape region, or if it turns later, we could see a crossing around the midwest region."

Pope Leo has named the Sydney based bishop of Broken Bay, Anthony Randazzo, to lead the Vatican office that oversees the Catholic Church's extensive legal system.
The Dicastery for Legislative Texts is the office responsible for writing and interpreting the Catholic Church's in-house canon law, and also the provision of legal advice on other matters.
Randazzo is the first Australian to lead a Vatican office since the late Cardinal George Pell, who was the Church's finance leader for five years.

Germany's defence minister has met with his counterpart Richard Marles, in what he's described as a long-awaited visit to Australia.
The visit of Boris Pistorius comes three days after Australia signed a major trade deal with Europe worth billions of dollars.
Mr Pistorius says this visit will boost the bilateral and strategic partnership between the countries.
Richard Marles agrees.
"There is an operational level of engagement we are having between our two countries. You can see that in terms of an increased participation by German in exercises like Talisman Sabre last year and Pitch Black later this year in Darwin. So, this is a relationship that is going from strength to strength and this is a meeting that we see as critically important."

South Australia are chasing successive Sheffield Shield titles for the first time in the competition's history, when the team plays against Victoria today.
Last year Harris's charges were decisive ladder-leaders before a four-wicket win over Queensland gave them their first Shield trophy in 29 years.
South Australia coach Ryan Harris says the team's path to this year's decider has been challenging, with multiple team members battling injury.
