That's the sound of missiles intercepted over Tel Aviv, as the Iran and Israel conflict continue to escalate.

Israel's military has launched a fresh wave of strikes on Tehran, warning residents in parts of the city to urgently evacuate.

US President Donald Trump had earlier warned that American patience is running out.

But he says there are no immediate plans to remove Iran's Supreme Leader.

He had also suggested that diplomatic envoys could be sent as the Israel-Iran aerial conflict enters its sixth day.

Israel says Iran has launched more missiles, triggering air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and southern Israel.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has issued a stark warning.

He says Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, could meet the same fate as former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, who was ousted in a US-led invasion and later executed.

"I warn the Iranian dictator against continuing to commit war crimes and fire missiles at Israeli citizens. He should remember what happened to the dictator in the country neighbuoring Iran who took this path against the State of Israel. We will continue to act today against regime targets and military targets in Tehran as we did yesterday against the propaganda and incitement broadcasting authority."

Shortly afterwards, explosions were reported in Tehran and in Isfahan, in central Iran.

President Donald Trump is back at the White House monitoring the conflict in the Middle East after leaving the G7 summit in Canada early.

Posting a message on social media, he says: "We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran".

President Trump has called for Iran's unconditional surrender, and says the US has no intention to kill Iran's leader - "for now".

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a message of his own, saying Iran will deliver no mercy, as he declared the battle has truly begun.

Abdul Rahim Mousavi is Iran's Armed Forces Joint Chief of Staff.

"The operations carried out so far were merely a warning and deterrence. A punitive operation will be implemented soon. Therefore, residents of Tel Aviv and Jaffa are strongly warned to leave those areas for their own safety. Don’t fall victim to Netanyahu’s animal desires."

Three US officials told Reuters that the U-S military is sending additional fighter jets to the Middle East, and extending existing deployments to bolster its presence in the region.

Trump administration officials have not publicly said it is joining offensive operations with Israel.

The number of casualities continue to rise, after days of aerial attacks launched by Israel and Iran against each other.

Daily newspaper Israel Hayom says further injuries have been reported, after several Iranian missiles struck different parts of Israel.

Iran has also suffered several Israeli missile strikes, including in Tehran and Karaj.

Local Iranian reports say there have been arrests of several people accused of spying for the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, as well as planning attacks.

Spokesman for Israel's army, Effie Defrin says they are now on day five of what they're calling Operation Rising Lion.

"We've struck deep, hitting Iran's nuclear, ballistic and command capabilities. The Iranian regime has spent years getting closer to a nuclear weapon, they have spent billions building a ballistic missile programme. Our mission is clear - to remove the threat at its source. We are aiming at military targets, they are attacking civilian homes. The IDF will continue to operate with precision, strength, and resolve to ensure the safety of the people of Israel."

Israel's military claims it has killed General Ali Shadmani, Iran's top war commander.

Iran has not confirmed the claim.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron warned that an Iranian regime change through military means would lead to chaos, and further destabilise the Middle East.

"We do not want to see Iran acquire nuclear weapons or ballistic capabilities. But I believe the greatest mistake today would be to pursue regime change in Iran through military means, as that would lead to chaos."

After his sudden exit from the G7 summit, President Trump spoke to reporters on board his plane, saying that earlier remarks from Mr Macron indicating the US might be involved in negotiating a ceasefire were out of place.

He criticised Mr Macron as a publicity seeker.

"I didn’t say I was looking for a ceasefire. That was Emmanuel (Macron, French President), nice guy but he doesn’t get it right too often. But we’re not looking — we’re looking for better than a ceasefire."

The US president says he wants to see Iran back down.

Reporter: There's reports that you want to send the vice president and Steve Witkoff to be with the Iranians and have discussions. Is that something you're considering?"

Donald Trump: "Not sure yet, I may. Depends on what happens when I get back."

Reporter: "What specifically is better than a ceasefire? What are you looking for here?"

Donald Trump: "An end. A real end, not a ceasefire. An end."

Reporter: "So something that will be permanent?"

Donald Trump: "Yeah, or giving up entirely. That's okay too."
