The FBI says it is doing all it can to investigate the man who tried to enter President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Mr Trump was not at the estate at the time of the incident.
The Secret Service says agents fatally shot the man, who was spotted by the north gate of the Mar-a-Lago property, carrying a shotgun and a fuel can.
FBI Special Agent Brett Skiles says investigators are working on a profile of the man.
"Since this area of the shooting was under Secret Service protection at the time, the FBI is assisting the investigation. Currently, our Evidence Response Team is processing the scene, collecting evidence and we’ll continue to work the scene for as long as it takes. One thing I would ask the public is if you live in the area of the shooting, please check your exterior cameras for last night or this morning. If you see anything that looks suspicious or out of place, please contact us."
Ahmed al-Ahmed, the father of two who disarmed one of the gunmen during the Bondi Beach terror attack, says it was the cries for help that gave him the courage to act.
15 people were killed - and 40 more were injured, including Mr al-Ahmed - in the attack in December that targeted members of the Jewish community at a Hanukkah event.
In his first interview with an Australian media outlet, the 44-year-old told Channel Nine's 60 Minutes, he says he felt he had to act.
"To save kids and women and the life of people. To save the life of innocent people. They didn't do anything wrong. We are a human being. I run into him. His reaction when I hit him in his head, heavy. And I was screaming and swearing. He didn't say anything. Only I can see his teeth. It was like this (clenched). Showing anger."
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has declared a state of emergency, ahead of a powerful winter storm expected to impact the area.
He says the declaration [[9pm Sunday to noon Monday]] shutdowns traffic, but excludes emergency travel.
New York is home to over eight million people.
Blizzard warnings have been issued for New York and parts of at least six states, with forecasts of snowfall rates of more than 2.5 centimetres an hour along parts of the East Coast.
Mr Mamdani says it is the most severe storm for a decade.
"These are blizzard conditions. New York City has not faced a storm of this scale in the last decade. Due to these factors, we are declaring a state of emergency and instituting a travel ban starting at 9 pm this evening and ending at 12 pm tomorrow. The state of emergency closes the streets, highways and bridges of New York City for all traffic, cars, trucks, scooters and e-bikes with some specific exemptions for essential and emergency movement."
