Fake pornography that imposes a person's likeness on sexually explicit images will be punishable with jail time under new legislation.

The federal government's 'Deepfakes Bill' bans the sharing of the artificially-created pornography in an attempt to address the gender-based violence crisis.

Sharing non-consensual deepfake sexually explicit material will carry a maximum penalty of six years' imprisonment, increasing to seven years if the person who shares the images also created them.

Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus says he plans to introduce the laws to parliament this week, adding the government has "no tolerance for this sort of insidious criminal behaviour".

Rescue crews have searched through the night for a survivor feared trapped after a massive explosion at a Sydney townhouse.

The blast on Waikanda Crescent at Whalan in Sydney's west levelled most of the two-storey home just before 1pm on Saturday, blowing out windows and damaging a neighbouring house.

Crews rescued a woman in her sixites and a wheelchair-bound woman in her seventies from the ruins.

The pair along with three others were taken to hospital and are in a stable condition with minor injuries.

New South Wales Superindentent Darrin Batchelor said another person was feared trapped in the rubble.

"Unfortunately there is one resident still unaccounted for, and we the police are working together with fire and rescue and the ambulance to try and locate that missing person."

Ticketmaster's parent company, Live Nation, has confirmed it has suffered a cyberattack.

In a document filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Live Nation says in an incident on May 27 "a criminal threat actor offered what it alleged to be Company user data for sale via the dark web".

It says it is now "working to mitigate risk to users" and is cooperating with law enforcement officials.

It says the breach is unlikely to have "a material impact on our overall business operations."

Earlier in the week, a hacking group named ShinyHunters posted on the dark web, attempting to sell data it had allegedly stolen from 560 million Ticketmaster customers globally.

Voters in South Africa have ended three decades of dominance by the African National Congress.

The party's vote share dropped to 40 percent, meaning it will now be forced to to seek coalition partners to form government.

It is the party's worst result since the country's first democratic elections in 1994, which saw Nelson Mandela become president.

Opposition parties hailed the result as a momentous breakthrough for a country struggling with deep poverty and inequality.

The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, Julius Malema, says the country will now be charting a new path.

"For the first time since 1994, the parliamentary majority of the ANC (African National Congress) has been broken and from now henceforth, parliament will take decisions based on logic and sense and not on entitlement of being the sole dominant ruling party. Parliament will now be better positioned as a true representative of our people and not a platform to protect the political elite of the ruling class."

Voting in India’s six-week-long national election has come to an end, with the country's Election Commission to confirm the final results on Tuesday.

Most exit polls project a win for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party.
Analysts warn the polls are not impartial - and have been wrong in the past.

In a statement on social media platform X, Mr Modi claimed victory without referring to the exit polls.

If Mr Modi wins, he’ll be only the second Indian leader to retain power for a third term after the country’s first prime minister.

These voters say they are hoping for peace, whatever the election result.

"Whoever come(s) (to power), I don’t care. But we need peacefully life in India...This is the main thing that we have the power to elect our own government, who will look after us, for our future benefits and all. This is thing which I think is the most important thing."

In tennis, Alexander Zverev has survived a big scare in an evening marathon at the French Open.

The German fourth seed was dragged into a battle by Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor before prevailing in a five-set match the Roland-Garros.

Zverev told the Tennis Channel he found the cold weather conditions challenging.

"But I managed somehow, down four, four-one in the final set, I don't know how I did it. He maybe started to think a little bit, but I started to return much better, played much more aggressive as well, and obviously happy with the win."
