There are concerns Iran has laid sea mines through the world's biggest oil shipping route, the Strait of Hormuz as it seeks to affect global oil supply.

The US reporting it has intercepted 28 Iranian mine-laying ships.

Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaqari says war in the region will push global energy prices much higher.

"You will not be able to keep oil and energy prices artificially low. As we have already warned, if the war spreads across the region, expect oil to reach $200 per barrel. Oil prices follow the level of security in the region and the source of that insecurity is you."

G7 countries have agreed to the largest release of emergency oil supplies in history, as Iran threatens the price of oil will more than double.

The Iranian regime says oil will cost 200 US dollars a barrel, up from its current price of 90 dollars a barrel.

This will have major effects on fuel supply and the global economy.

French President Emmanuel Macron, who hosted the G7 leaders meeting, says this release represents 20 days of oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz.

"In parallel with this, we will take all necessary measures to encourage maximum production from everyone producing during this period and to address the consequences of this war, which, I remind you, for oil and gas, means that about 20% of our capacities are blocked or off the market during this time."

Victorian homebuyers will be given free building and pest reports, under a new scheme proposed by Premier Jacinta Allan.

Under this plan, vendors would be forced to pay for these inspections and share the results with all potential buyers.

The premier says she is basing this decision on data which shows many buyers are spending thousands of dollars on multiple reports, before successfully purchasing a property.

Legislation for this mandatory scheme will enter parliament next year if the current Labor government wins the next state election.

The Federal Government has appointed a Ministerial Expert Panel on Women’s Health.

The panel will first focus on cardiovascular health, addressing issues with diagnosis and treatment of women presenting with cardiac issues.

Assistant Minister for Health, Rebecca White, says the panel will address longheld issues in the way female patients are treated within the healthcare system.

"Because we know that the symptoms between men and women presenting with cardiovascular disease are different, but that is not widely understood. So there is work that we need to do to make sure that we are explaining this to women, to practitioners but also the broader public. So there is greater understanding and awareness of the risks of cardiovascular disease, the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment."

To sport now and in golf,

31 Australians are teeing off today in the Women's Australian Open in Adelaide.

Steph Kyriacou has high expectations ahead of her performance, hoping to end Australia's 12 year winning drought at the tournament.

Just three Australians - Karrie Webb, Jane Crafter and Jan Stephenson - have won their national open in the past.
