New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon has vowed to continue searching for wanted fugitive Julian Ingram until he's found.

Ingram is on the run - alleged to have fatally shot three people, including his pregnant former partner last week in the western New South Wales town Lake Cargelligo.

Police say they're confident he's still alive, and may be receiving help.

Assistant commissioner Andrew Holland says a reported sighting of Julian Ingram in Mount Hope is being investigated - and has yet to be confirmed officially.

He says riot squad police are being brought in to assist with the search.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says he is looking to finalise a deal with states and territories on funding for public hospitals and the NDIS

Premiers and chief ministers are meeting tomorrow as part of national cabinet.

Mr Albanese says there will also be discussion about funding for the so-called Thriving Kids program, which was announced as a measure to reduce the rising cost of the NDIS; by diverting young children with mild to moderate developmental delay from the NDIS - and onto this new arrangement.

"We've already got spending on the NDIS down. But we think we can certainly get to where it is the 8 per cent. And can be got further down as well, so that it is sustainable. That it is important for a social policy program that is so central to our way of life. And making sure that people with disabilities can fully participate in Australian life."

United Nations special rapporteur Ben Saul has applied to join a legal challenge against New South Wales protest restrictions, arguing the laws violate global human rights standards.

His application follows a lawsuit filed by advocacy groups, including the Palestine Action Group, in the New South Wales Supreme Court in January.

Josh Lees, from the Palestine Action Group, says he welcomes Professor Saul joining the lawsuit.

"Ben Saul is a very prominent human rights lawyer. He has been part of the United Nations investigation into Israel's war crimes. And my understanding is that he has great concerns about the way these anti-protest laws breach Australia's human rights obligations. So it is very important that he should be heard in this case."

Israel's foreign ministry has said it categorically rejects the UN report released last year in September that concluded Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Former Liberal MP Katie Allen has been farewelled in a memorial service attended by political, academic and medical leaders.

Professor Allen served as the member for the Victorian seat of Higgins from 2019 to 2022.

She died in December at the age of 59 after developing a rare form of cancer.

More than 1000 people attended Dr Allen's memorial service at St Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne, with mourners turned away as the church reached capacity.

Former Minister for Health and Aged Care, Greg Hunt, gave a touching tribute to his political colleague.

"Her empathy, her intellect, her focus made a lasting impact on countless lives. She was unbowed, she was full of purpose until the very end. She was Katie and we will miss her."

In sport, Australia's new women's cricket captain Sophie Molineux says she's grateful for the promotion and she's ready to lead the team into a new era of success and domination on the world stage.

The 28-year-old Victorian will take over from Alyssa Healy, who will retire in March.

Ash Gardner has been elevated to share the vice-captaincy with incumbent Tahlia McGrath.
