Authorities have launched an investigation following a deadly blast in New Delhi that killed at least eight people and injured 20.
The explosion occurred around 7pm in a Hyundai i20 at a traffic light, destroying nearby vehicles near the Red Fort, a 17th-century Mughal fortress and UNESCO World Heritage site that is one of India's most famous landmarks.
Local media are reporting that a previous owner of the car has been arrested.
Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the blast, calling it a tragic incident.
"We are investigating the incident and exploring all the possibilities. We will share the results with the public after a thorough investigation."
At least 31 inmates have been killed during a day of violent rioting at a prison in south-west Ecuador.
Police regained control after the unrest, which erupted amid a reorganisation of inmates in a new maximum-security facility.
Ecuador's government blames ongoing prison violence on warring gangs.
Australia's spy chief has issued a warning about the potential for artificial intelligence to take online radicalisation and disinformation to new levels.
He singled out Russian operatives as a major source for the spread of false news and violent narratives.
The use of large language models like Chat-GPT is becoming increasingly popular, but experts say some AI chatbots are unwittingly pushing disinformation.
Carl Miller, founder of the Centre for the Analysis for Social Media at Demos in the U-K, says the full power of A-I is as yet unknown.
"These models, these chatbots that are increasingly going to be used to kind of interrogate the internet and paint pictures for people to learn about the world, they are vitally important and how they get trained and what they end up therefore saying, – this is going to be basically the kind of crucible of a whole new kind of really powerful and quite unseen influence and power."
A sighting of a rare white humpback whale off the New South Wales coast over the last few days has excited scientists and the public.
Citizen scientists spotted the whale, known as Siali.
Dr Vanessa Pirotta, an Australian wildlife scientist, says scientists are trying to understand the white whale's behaviour.
"Why she's going north, we just don't know. Lets hope she turns around or perhaps maybe this is a reflection that other whales might go north for a period of time and hang out in Australian waters before going south."
To tennis now...
And Italy's Jannik Sinner opened his ATP Finals title defence with a 7-5 6-1 win over injury-hit Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in Turin.
Sinner now battles Carlos Alcaraz for year-end world number one, while all four players in the Bjorn Borg group still have a chance to reach the semi-finals.
