Two women are fighting for life after a collision with a police car in Sydney’s southwest on Sunday afternoon.
The pair - one in their 20s and the other in their 50s - remain in a critical condition this morning after a police car travelling under lights and sirens collided with the women's Kia sedan in Bossley Park, with the police vehicle reportedly responding to an incident involving a child seen running on the roadway.
New South Wales Police say the collision forced both vehicles off the roadway, where they crashed through a fence and struck two separate houses.
Neighbour Vazken Agobian has told Channel 9 the incident unfolded quickly.
"Suddenly I heard big, big noise - bang - which is - we can't believe it that much, big noise."

A Russian drone has struck a train carrying senior diplomatic officials near the Ukraine-Poland border.
Ukraine's railway operator says the diplomatic train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Carl Bildt and security advisers from several European Union countries, was hit just two kilometres from the Polish border.
The group had been in Kyiv for the Yalta European Strategy conference, which is an annual gathering of leaders and experts across politics, business, security and media.
No-one is reported to have been injured, but Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha says Russian strikes are hitting closer to NATO and EU member Poland.
"Putin's terror literally knocks at NATO's and the E.U.'s doors. That is exactly why today it is not enough to take partial decisions - strong sanctions are needed, further military support for Ukraine and maximum pressure on Russia."

An Iranian commercial vessel has been struck off Qeshm island in the Strait of Hormuz, with one person reported killed and four wounded.
Iran's state-run IRNA news agency has quoted the Qeshm governor blaming the attack on what he called a 'terrorist enemy'.
There has been no immediate confirmation from the US military which has struck Iranian-flagged vessels during its blockade of ports.
The strike comes a day before Tehran planned to brief countries in the region on its contested efforts to manage shipping traffic.

Swedes have voted in a closely fought election that will either bring a far-right party into government for the first time or shift the country back to the liberalism it has long been known for.
As counting continues, several opinion polls and exit polls have suggested Sweden's centre-left opposition holds a narrow lead over the ruling right-wing bloc.
Supporters of the right-wing bloc say its policies have helped curb gang violence and cut immigration dramatically, and that a victory would amount to a public endorsement of that approach and more in the same vein in the years ahead.

People in parts of western New South Wales are developing Motor Neuron Disease at more than four times the global average, according to new research.
The joint study from Macquarie and Charles Sturt Universities has found some regional communities recorded rates up to seven times higher than expected, with several hot-spots overlapping intensive farming areas.
The highest MND prevalence estimates have been observed in the central New South Wales towns of Oberon followed by Forbes, Cowra and Orange.
The findings, presented at the National MND Conference, suggest environmental factors may be contributing to the elevated rates.

Australia's first female High Court judge has died at the age of 83.
Mary Gaudron was one of the members on the court during some landmark legal moments, including the native title case, Mabo v Queensland.
Born in 1943 in the northwest NSW town of Moree, Ms Gaudron was also the first woman appointed to the NSW Bar Council in 1972.
Governor-General Sam Mostyn has paid tribute, saying that Ms Gaudron's legacy endured in the many people who continued to follow the path she helped forge.

To sport and in cycling, Enric Mas has won the Vuelta a Espana, finally taking the red jersey on home soil after three years coming in second place.
The Spanish rider took overall lead partway through the Grand Tour, when rival and five-time Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar crashed out of the race.
The 31 year-old finished two minutes and 15 seconds ahead of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe rider Primoz Roglic, while Felix Gall of Decathlon CMA CGM Team came in third.
He says it's been worth the wait.
"My family - half the town is there - so truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. The fans have been amazing since we started the season, so please keep it up, it helps us a lot. Thank you."
