He took over Mark Webber's seat at Red Bull in Formula One, and now Daniel Ricciardo has also taken his place in the record books at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The West Australian on Sunday smashed his compatriot's unofficial lap time at the Eastern Creek race track, behind the wheel of the championship-winning RB7.
His 1min 11.2330secs was more than two-seconds quicker than Webber's, set at last year's Top Gear Festival.
"I wasn't holding anything back," Ricciardo told AAP.
"I figured, if I'm going to set a benchmark I'll make sure it's a good one."
The 26-year-old had already broken the record a day earlier by about half-a-second - in a car and on a track he he didn't know.
"Even though it was here on a show run, it's still a quick car around the track. It was one of the strongest F1 cars of its time."
