Footage from the US National Weather Service picked up the mass on a meteorological radar.
Experts say this is just the tip of the metaphorical insect iceberg. These radars focus on higher elevations, meaning it's not capturing a lot of what's happening on the ground.
"What we are seeing is a very small subset of what's actually happening, grasshopper-wise," meteorologist Clay Morgan told the Washington Post.
The internet, however, is capturing plenty of it.
