WWE to hit Melbourne for super-showdown

The WWE is coming back to Melbourne, with a "Super Show-Down" wrestling event happening at the Melbourne Cricket Ground later this year.

Pro wrestling giant World Wrestling Entertainment is returning to Australia, with a super showdown set for the Melbourne Cricket Ground in October.

The Undertaker, Triple H, John Cena and Ronda Rousey are among the big names expected to take part in the "WWE Super Show-Down" on October 6.

Premier Daniel Andrews is hailing the event as a major win for Melbourne's economy.

"Ultimately all of these events, whether they're your cup of tea or not, all of these events are about keeping hundreds of thousands of Victorians in work. These events keep the bars and cafes and restaurants open," he told reporters on Sunday.
