Here's a reminder of where things stand:
Brazil Stats
· Brazil have already secured their place in the knockout phase. They have not been eliminated in the first group stage of a World Cup since 1966.
· Brazil will guarantee top spot in Group G if they avoid defeat in this match. Since the tournament returned to a format containing only one group stage in 1986, all nine World Cup winners progressed to the knockout phase after finishing top of their group.
· Brazil won their group in the first group stage at each of the last 10 World Cups. This run stretches back to 1978, when they finished as runners-up to Austria.
· Brazil are on a World Cup record run of 17 consecutive group stage matches unbeaten (W14-D3-L0), since a 2-1 defeat against Norway in their final group game in 1998. Note: includes final round in 1950, and second group stage in 1974, 1978 and 1982.
· Brazil can keep a clean sheet in all three group stage fixtures at a single World Cup for the first time since 1986 (versus Spain, Algeria and Northern Ireland). They have not faced a shot on target at the 2022 World Cup.
· Brazil have not scored more than two goals in any of their last 11 World Cup games, since a 4-1 group stage win versus Cameroon in Brasília in 2014.
· Brazil failed to net in the first half of any of their last four World Cup matches. Each of their last seven goals at the tournament were scored in the second half.
· Brazil are unbeaten in 17 matches (including winning each of the last nine), since a 1-0 defeat against Argentina in Rio de Janeiro in the Copa América final on 10 July 2021. They have not had a longer unbeaten streak since a run of 19 from June 2008 to September 2009.
· Neymar (75) is two short of equalling Pelé (77) as Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer. He missed the win against Switzerland because of an ankle injury.
· Dani Alves (124) is one short of moving joint-second alongside Roberto Carlos (125) in Brazil's all-time leading appearance makers, behind only Cafu (142). Neymar (122) is fourth on that list.
· Fred is one yellow card away from a suspension.

Cameroon Stats
· Cameroon must win this match AND Switzerland must fail to beat Serbia for the Indomitable Lions to have a chance of progressing to the knockout phase. Goal difference (and then goals scored) would decide who joins Brazil in the round of last 16.
· Cameroon progressed from the group stage in only one of their seven World Cup appearances. They reached the quarter-finals in 1990 (eliminated 3-2 after extra time by England), the first African team to achieve this (since equalled by Senegal in 2002 and Ghana in 2010).
· Cameroon won only four of their 25 World Cup matches (W4-D8-L13). Three of those victories were in their run to the quarter-finals in 1990. The other triumph was 1-0 against Saudi Arabia in the 2002 group stage (Rigobert Song was captain).
· Cameroon's 3-3 draw against Serbia ended their eight-match World Cup losing streak. They came back from 3-1 down to avoid equalling the World Cup record of nine successive defeats, held by Mexico (1930-1958).
· Cameroon (W0-D1-L8) can become the second African team to remain winless in at least 10 consecutive World Cup matches, after Tunisia (13 from 1978 to 2018).
· Cameroon kept a clean sheet in three of their first four World Cup fixtures, but have kept only one clean sheet in their 21 games at the tournament since.
· Cameroon scored as many goals in their 3-3 draw versus Serbia as they had in their two previous World Cup appearances combined (two in 2010, one in 2014).
· Only François Omam Biyik (11), Roger Milla (10) and Rigobert Song (9) have made more World Cup appearances for Cameroon than Nicolas N'Koulou (8).
· Jean-Charles Castelletto, Vincent Aboubakar and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored in the 3-3 draw versus Serbia. Only two players have netted multiple goals for Cameroon at a single World Cup: Roger Milla (4 in 1990) and Samuel Eto'o (2 in 2010).
· Nicolas N'Koulou, Collins Fai and Christian Bassogog are one yellow card away from a suspension.

Head-to-Head: Cameroon v Brazil
· Cameroon lost five of their six matches against Brazil (W1-D0-L5). The only exception was a 1-0 victory at Stade de France in the 2003 Confederations Cup group stage (83rd-minute goal by Samuel Eto'o for a team captained by Rigobert Song).
· Brazil won both of their two World Cup games versus Cameroon (both in the group stage): 3-0 in San Francisco in 1994 (Rigobert Song was sent off for the Indomitable Lions) and 4-1 in Brasília in 2014 (including two goals by Neymar).
· The most recent meeting was a friendly in Milton Keynes on 20 November 2018. Brazil won 1-0 through a goal by Richarlison (45'). Clarence Seedorf was manager of Cameroon at the time.
· Two of Cameroon's four World Cup wins were against CONMEBOL opposition. In 1990, they defeated Argentina 1-0 in the opening game of the tournament (goal by François Omam Biyik) and Colombia 2-1 after extra time in the round of last 16 (both goals by Roger Milla).
· Brazil have won all seven World Cup matches versus African opposition, by an aggregate score of 20-2. One of the two goals they conceded was to Cameroon's Joel Matip in 2014.

Switzerland Stats
· Switzerland are guaranteed to progress to the knockout phase if they a) win OR b) draw AND Cameroon fail to beat Brazil. If the Swiss draw and Cameroon win by a single-goal margin the teams will be separated by goals scored. The Swiss will be eliminated on goal difference if they draw and Cameroon win by more than a single-goal margin.
· Only three UEFA teams reached the knockout phase in each of the previous four major tournaments (World Cup in 2014 and 2018, EURO 2016 and EURO 2020): Switzerland, Belgium and France.
· Switzerland can reach the knockout phase in three successive World Cups for the first time.
· Switzerland were eliminated in the group stage in only one of their last five World Cup appearances. They made a group stage exit in 2010, despite a 1-0 win against Spain in their opening match (Spain went on to win the trophy). The Swiss were knocked out in the round of last 16 in each of their other four participations in that run (1994, 2006, 2014, 2018).
· Switzerland can lose consecutive World Cup group stage matches for the first time since they lost all six group games in 1962 and 1966.
· Current squad members Granit Xhaka, Xherdan Shaqiri and Ricardo Rodríguez are level alongside Stephan Lichtsteiner and Valon Behrami (all 10) as Switzerland's leading World Cup appearance makers.
· Shaqiri is joint-second alongside Robert Ballaman and André Abegglen (all 4) in Switzerland's leading World Cup goalscorers, behind only Josef Hügi (6).
· Xhaka and Shaqiri have a chance of becoming the first player to score for Switzerland at three World Cups. The pair were the Swiss goalscorers in their win against Serbia in the 2018 group stage.
· Excluding shootouts, none of the last six penalties taken against Switzerland with Yann Sommer as goalkeeper were scored (four saved, one hit bar, one over the bar). The first of those six spot-kicks was by Costa Rica's Bryan Ruiz at the 2018 World Cup. His effort hit the bar, came off the back of Sommer's head and went in for an own goal.
· Nico Elvedi, Manuel Akanji and Fabian Rieder are one yellow card away from a suspension.

Serbia Stats
· Serbia are guaranteed to progress to the knockout phase if they win AND Cameroon fail to beat Brazil. If Serbia and Cameroon both win, goal difference will decide who goes through.
· Serbia were eliminated in the group stage in each of their last three appearances at the World Cup: 2006 (as Serbia and Montenegro), 2010 and 2018.
· Serbia have not reached the World Cup knockout phase since 1998, when, as Yugoslavia, they were eliminated 2-1 by Netherlands in the round of last 16.
· Serbia won only two of their last 12 World Cup matches (W2-D1-L9). Both of those victories were in the group stage: 1-0 versus Germany in 2010 and 1-0 versus Costa Rica in 2018.
· Serbia scored more goals in the 3-3 draw against Cameroon than they did in any of their previous three appearances at the World Cup: two in 2006, 2010 and 2018.
· Dragan Stojkovic is Serbia's joint-leading World Cup appearance maker. He is level on nine alongside Dejan Stankovic, Dragoslav Šekularac and Ivica Šurjak. He was part of the Yugoslavia squad that reached the quarter-finals in 1990 and the round of last 16 in 1998.
· Aleksandar Mitrovic (51) is Serbia's all-time leading goalscorer (including Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro). Against Cameroon, Mitrovic became the second Serbian player to net at multiple World Cups, after Dragan Stojkovic (1990, 1998).
· Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored 37 goals in 45 appearances for club and country in 2022.
· Miloš Veljkovic was born in Basel. He represented Switzerland at U16 level.

· The most recent meeting of these nations was in Kaliningrad in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup (second round of group games). Switzerland won 2-1 courtesy of goals by Granit Xhaka (52') and Xherdan Shaqiri (90') after Aleksandar Mitrovic (5') had given Serbia the lead. · The only other World Cup match between these teams was in the 1950 group stage. Yugoslavia defeated Switzerland 3-0 in Belo Horizonte through goals by Rajko Mitic (60'), Kosta Tomaševic (78') and Tihomir Ognjanov (84'). Neither team progressed to the final round.
