The artists of Eurovision 2017: Levina – “Perfect Life” (Germany)

Major changes in the song selection process still couldn't come up with a winner.

Things have not been going to script for Germany at the contest of late with very few bright spots for the European powerhouse since Lena’s win in 2010 with “Satellite”. A big overhaul of Germany’s national selection competition, Unser Song fur 2017, was undertaken this year where the general public were able to select both the artist and the song that would represent them in Kyiv. Additionally, the voting was then open to an international audience via the Eurovision Vibes app, allowing non-German residents a say in the selection for the first time.

The winning artist was 25-year-old Levina (Isabella “Levina” Lueen), who’ll perform the winning song, “Perfect Life”. One of the most complicated national selection competitions has resulted in one of the worst entries in this year’s contest. It’s not that it’s terrible, it’s simply run-of-the-mill, heard-it-all-before boring. Another revisit to the process in 2018 then?

Grand final performance
