So, how are American foodies celebrating - or commiserating - the 2016 presidential election? Naturally, there’s a lot of comfort food involved and a fair few jokes about dishes with an orange tint.
Cafes are cashing in on quirky election snacks, and bakers are putting their mitts on to impress guests during the long wait of election night. Around the world, too, expats are getting into some very American favourites.
We’ve rounded up a few of our election party food faves. Like these magnificent sugar-laden donuts in New York City!
Or these deliciously detailed cake pops created by bakers in Washington DC.
Donald Trump created from deconstructed Mexican food and turned into a piece of art.
Cookies that urge Americans to exercise their democratic right.
Dedicated ice cream flavours created by an ice cream shop in Brooklyn. The orange flavour is, of course, dedicated to Trump, and is made from orange marshmallow ice cream. The other is called Madam President, and is “made with sugar and spice and women’s rights,” according to their Instagram account.
One chain burger restaurant is even doing themed burgers: the ‘Hillbill’ and ‘The Donald.’
And lastly, these slightly creepy cookies.
