Peace and love icon John Lennon gunned down outside his New York home. The first AIDS case diagnosed in the US. AC DC hardman Bon Scott, dead at 33. As Pac-Man gobbled teenage pocket money, tragedy at Ayers Rock. Baby Azaria Chamberlain taken by a dingo.

I just yelled out, Has anyone got a torch? The dingo's got my baby.

The Soviets might have wanted to keep putting...

Of the Iron Curtain, but Polish shipyard workers at Gdansk formed solidarity. The trade union would a decade later contribute to the collapse of the Soviet Union. SBS TV begins broadcasting on Channel 0. I'm Anton Enis for SBS's 50th anniversary. That was 1980.
