Cricketer Shane Warne dies while on holiday in Thailand.

Flooding hits large parts of Queensland and New South Wales, killing twenty-two people and injuring hundreds of others.

Australia heads to the polls in a Federal Election. Labor wins power from the incumbent Liberal-National Coalition and Anthony Albanese is sworn in as Prime Minister.

And Queen Elizabeth the Second dies. She is succeeded by her son, King Charles the Third.
