After the modern phenomena known as 'avocado hand' - when someone attempts to remove the stone of an avocado and slices their hand open with a knife - hit international headlines, we had to ask ourselves: how does one avoid this dangerous situation?
Answer: remove the stone from the avocado completely.
UK retailer Marks and Spencer (M&S) has just started selling 'cocktail avocados'.
These mini-avos are only 5-8cm long, but there's one very major benefit: they're 100% flesh, so there's no stone inside. The skin is also edible, so you are able to eat them in a mouthful or two.
The avocados, which could be easily mistaken for a pickle or baby cucumber, are grown in Spain. Rather than any genetic modification, these are the unpollinated blossom of the fruit, which is what makes them stoneless.
Marks and Spencer have confirmed that due to a very short growing period for these special avocados, they will only be available during the month of December.
The fruit has been around for some time and due to their short growing season, they have reportedly only been shipped to high-end restaurants in Paris and the US. So, they've been difficult for mainstream retailers to get a hold of, according to The Independent.
"This amazing fruit has been on our radar for a couple of years and we're very excited to have finally been able to get hold of some for our customers to try," said Charlotte Curtis, a food technology specialist at M&S.
Social media users have been extremely excited to try the new variation of the popular fruit:
