A round of applause, people! It's that time of year where the Academy honours the best films of 2017 and we thought we'd honour our award-wining recipes, too. Okay, we don't have Jimmy Kimmel hosting this accolade and technically our version of the Academy is the Food HQ team, but we think we're worthy enough to recognise some delicious hitters.
We'd like to thank our recipe authors, our local grocers and our Food audience for giving life to these recipes and you'll definitely want to whip up a batch (or two) of the below to go alongside your red carpet and ceremony banter.
Best picture | The neverending sherbert
Tükenmez is a homemade version of a sherbet - think kombucha, but fermented with chickpeas instead of a scoby. Best part? You can keep it going for months! Fill those pitchers, people!

Best actress | Kidney bean chocolate cake
Who would have imagined that a cake made with legumes could ever be this light and tasty? Congratulations kidney beans for putting on a stellar performance.

Best actor | Whole eggplant and lamb moussaka
Unravel the layers of this character and you'll be in awe of its modern interpretation.Topped with a smoky eggplant cream and baked ricotta, each eggplant is hollowed-out before being filled with tender slow-braised lamb.

Best supporting actress | Mama's rice bowl steamed sponge
A cross between marshmallow and bread, with the flavour of custard - this tea cake is stealing the show. The trick is to get the lining of the baking paper right, otherwise, your cake will end up a disfigured specimen in the water bubbling beneath - thank you, bamboo steamer!

Best supporting actor | Silverbeet rolls
The simplicity and deliciousness of rice stuffed leaves are taken to a new level with this recipe. Rice, tomato and herbs all shine through thanks to the silverbeet, which brings this sensational performance altogether.

Best director | Pork and king prawn lettuce wraps
It's a wrap! After a little careful preparation to get all the elements right, you place your lettuce leaf flat and fill with vermicelli, spring onion oil, cucumber, pork belly and then prawn. Spoon over the pickled carrot and fresh mint before - there's method in this production and the skewer keeps it all nice and tight.

Best adapted screenplay | Vegetarian "sausage" rolls
Filled with lentils, quinoa and spices galore, You'll forget about the meat versions of the classic Aussie snag roll pretty fast.

Best original screenplay | Butterscotch pie
Expect three layers of lovely in this outstanding pie. With a buttery pastry, butterscotch filling and fluffy meringue, this popular recipe first appeared in a popular recipe calendar published by the Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW in the early 1930s.

Best foreign language film | Pain au chocolat
Where there's pastry, there's drama and where there's chocolate, there's romance. At their best warm from the oven, these pain au chocolat use a cheat’s pastry of sorts and the light sprinkling of sea salt flakes adds a surprising yet pleasant contrast to the sweetness of the chocolate centre.

Best original song | In His Kiss cupcakes
Cher this one's for you. If you want to show how you love someone so, then it's in this kiss - this cupcake kiss!

Best original score | Split cheesy garlic bread
This is one easy and cheesy masterpiece and it all begins with a serrated knife. Score your loaf lengthwise and then crosswise before rubbing in your herby pesto. Your garlic bread feature just got taken up a notch.

Best animated feature | The Hello Kitty cupcake
The Hello Kitty cupcake is a sweet mix of fruity and floral notes. It may look like your average (read: super cute) cupcake, but this dessert carries a few surprising flavour punches. Think lychee syrup, rose water and freeze-dried raspberries.

Best documentary feature | Fried squid with basil
Thanks to Matthew Evan's doco-series, What's The Catch? you can go forth and tackle sustainable seafood. Squid and calamari are abundant and this battered feature highlights sustainable produce, fresh ingredients and maximum flavour all-in-one.

Best cinematography | Brandy snap matcha madness
What a snap! A brandy snap, that is. Your friends will be green-eyed over this green-tea monster that not only visually striking to the eye but will draw in quite the audience.

Best costume design | Matcha and red bean Tim Tams
Channelling those Tim Tam vibes, check out these incredibly moreish (and unbelievably adorable) biscuits that are a match-a made in heaven.

Best make-up and hairstyling | Russians' hats (Ruske kape)
These little-layered cakes are the sweetest hats you'll find. Made up of custard cream and a chocolate topping they are covered in shredded coconut for a little texture. They are best served chilled and if you aren't much for a dessert fork, then eating these with your hands like a cupcake is absolutely acceptable!

Best production design | My mum's spanakopita
There is a real skill involved in getting the right consistency with filo. Traditionally, this recipe uses a plasti to roll your sheets out, which is very similar to a rolling pin, except it’s long and thin, and resembles a curtain rod. If you want super-thin sheets, use a pasta machine to help out - this is quite the production line, but the end result is satisfying.

Best visual effects | Orange-pistachio Bundt cake with saffron syrup
Looks impressive but this is really a one-bowl mix done in a food processor. This cake falls into that category of “less is more” and with an almost fluorescent saffron syrup, it is one that will definitely impress.

Best film editing | Wrath of Khandy cookies
Bake it so, this is an intergalactic Star Trekkin' eat. The Wrath of Khan has been deliciously edited into these super-sweet candy studded cookies - to put it simply, they're outta this world!

Best sound editing | Sichuan pepper and lime popcorn
Sichuan peppercorn fans (and newbies, too) will find every mouthful of this slightly mouth-numbing, not too fiery popcorn incredibly more-ish. When the kernel meets hot oil it's a sizzling and popping bonanza.

Best sound mixing | Easy tiramisu
This pick-me-up dessert is ideal for entertaining. Laced with coffee and liqueur, the magic begins when you beat your eggs, sugar and mascarpone - what a mixture!

Best animated short | Black sesame and yuzu Wagon Wheels
This Wagon Wheel absolutely koala-fies for teatime shenanigans. Two black sesame biscuits, sandwiching a vanilla marshmallow and a layer of yuzu jam, all covered in black sesame white chocolate... sign us up!

Best live action short | Barbecued mussels with gremolata
Whether you prefer to barbecue, roast or steam them, watch your muscles pop (open)! Finish them off with a sauce of garlic, lemon, parsley and olive oil.

Best documentary short | Spicy pork noodles
This is a super-quick and very easy version of the classic spicy Beijing noodles. Matthew Evans' has reduced the pork and increased the vegetables as part of his doco-series For The Love of Meat.
