After Bernard Salt’s controversial op-ed in The Australian earlier this week, smashed avocado on toast has been a contentious topic. Especially when it comes to millennials.
Salt suggested millennials would save enough money to afford a house deposit if only they stopped eating exorbitantly priced brunches of "smashed avocado with crumbled feta on five-grain toasted bread".
SBS Comedy's done a great job at explaining the whole thing in case you're still a bit confused by it all.
Cannily spotting an opportunity, online food delivery service UberEATS has announced it will be offering customers free smashed avo on toast this weekend.
How's that work? UberEATS has teamed up with selected uptown brunch spots in most state capitals to provide $20 off your next smashed avo brekkie, plus free delivery.
But the kicker is all the participating cafés charge just under $20 for their meals, meaning your smashed avo toast comes to you FREE.

“Well, millennials, we too share your love for the humble avocado and we support your right to a guilt-free brunch, so we’ve teamed up with some of your favourite restaurant partners across the country to bring you your city’s best and most affordable #SmashedAvos, without the side order of #SmashedDreams,” reads the company’s website.
Their offer began earlier today and ends midnight this Sunday, October 23.
Indeed this has to be the most interesting #SmashedAvoGate development yet!
