The CSIRO Low-Carb Diabetes Diet & Lifestyle Solution is the latest book in the CSIRO's research team arsenal of science-backed, evidence-based diet solutions. This one is aimed at maximising a low carb diet's benefits for improved metabolic health and blood glucose control, and effective type 2 diabetes prevention and management.

Low-carb eating generally means eliminating foods people find very hard to let go - pasta, bread and potatoes. These are staple foods for many, and the CSIRO research proves you don't have to give up your favourites. Instead, the new plan shows people how to eat carbs in moderation and pair them with other foods to maximise weight loss success and glycaemic control.

The book has a step-by-step 12- week meal plan and features 80 low-carb, high-flavour recipes. Here's a sample of a few of the delicious recipes.
Korean beef

Colourful, crunchy and low-carb, steak is marinated in soy sauce, garlic and ginger before being stir-fried with plenty of veggies and cauliflower and mushroom 'mince'. Find the recipes here.

Chicken bolognese

This bolognese uses chicken mince instead of beef and konjac pasta instead of durum wheat pasta. Konjac is a root vegetable that has been used in Asian cooking for centuries. In pasta form, it makes a great, low-carb alternative to wheat that take on the rich tomato and basil sauce in this recipe. Find the recipe here.

Breakfast bowl

A lentil and salad breakfast bowl makes for a healthy, low-carb start to your day. This one is laced with creamy feta and a zesty sumac and lemon dressing. Find the recipe here.

Holistic approach

As you'd expect from the highly-respected CSIRO research team, led by Professor Grant Brinkworth and Dr Pennie Taylor, the new book takes a holistic approach that enables individuals to personalise the plans to suit their lifestyle, cultural preferences and daily routine.

You can read more about the book and read an interview with Dr Taylor here:
