The 73rd edition of the Sydney Film Festival, one of the most prestigious events in world cinema, will be held from 3 to 14 June 2026. This year's festival will screen more than a hundred films from different countries around the world, including 19 films that have come directly from the Cannes Film Festival.
Bangladeshi filmmaker Rezwan Shahriar Sumit's political thriller 'Master' is set to have its Australian premiere at this year's Sydney Film Festival.
With the participation of local and international filmmakers, actors and numerous film-related guests, the festival has become a meeting place for global film culture.
Justin Martyniuk, Head of Programs at the Sydney Film Festival has spoken to SBS Bangla about the special attractions of this year's festival, the film selection process, the position of Australian films, the representation of South Asian films, and various important issues about the present and future of the film festival.
