Making Batteries Sustainable: An Interview with Damian Cupid

Battery technology is being hailed as the saviour of the energy transition. But how green is it really? Experts assume that batteries in electric cars, for example, will have to be replaced after five to ten years. So what happens to the vast quantities of batteries that will no longer be functional in just a few years? And are we not creating a new environmental problem? Damian Cupid is a battery researcher at the Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna and is working on producing sustainable batteries.
