100 artists and designers from 32 countries are part of the "Triennial" exhibition, which is free and open until 15 April 2018. SBS has met German artists Josephine Meckseper and Timo Nasseri.

German born Josephine Meckseper, who has been living in the US for the last two decades, is one of the foremost contemporary artists working in installation today.

She uses various presentation forms including vitrines, window displays and magazines.

Her vitrin "Las Meninas" references the political dimension of design in Germany during the Weimar Republic, and the school of the "Bauhaus".

Also in Melbourne is Berlin-based Timo Nasseri. The German-Iranian native uses mathematical formulae to transform traditional designs into new arrangements.

"Epistrophy" has been made up of 700 mirrors and reminds its viewers on traditional Islamic muqarnas.
