Effie Carr, Sydney-based lawyer and author, and one of the magazine’s editors, told SBS Greek that Kalliope X remains independent, volunteer-driven, and deeply committed to plurality

Kalliope X, one of Australia’s most vibrant online literary magazines, has just released its seventh issue.

Since 2021 it has provided a platform for free expression and dialogue, showcasing writers, poets, and artists from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
The new issue includes a rare reciprocal interview between Anna Kwani and Cypriot-Australian artist Panayiotis Lyssiotis, works on migration and identity, and collaborations with PEN Melbourne that bring forward the voices of imprisoned and censored writers from across the world.

Despite challenges in securing funding, the team of nine editors continues to publish tirelessly, and will host a fundraiser on the 30th November 2025 at "Capers" in Thornbury, combining poetry readings, music, and community support.

For Ms Carr, Kalliope X is not just a magazine but a cultural archive and a space where the diversity of Australia and its diasporas can be recorded, celebrated, and kept alive for future generations.
