Mumbai's beloved street food: Bombay Sandwich

If you are a big fan of Mumbai's street food, here's a simple recipe of making a quick vegetable sandwich popularly known as the 'Bombay Sandwich' that can be assembled in just few minutes.

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • ½ cup Cucumber (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup Tomato (thinly sliced)
  • ½ cup Boiled potato (thinly sliced)
  • ¼ cup Boiled beetroot (thinly sliced)
  • ¼ cup Red onion (thinly sliced)
  • ½ cup Green coriander chutney
  • ½ cup Butter
  • 2-3 tbsp Chaat masala
  • 4 White bread slices
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese (shredded)

Method

  • Apply butter to all slices of bread.
  • Apply green coriander chutney on top of the butter.
  • Now on 2 slices of bread lay cucumber, tomato, chaat masala, boiled potato, some more chaat masala, beetroot, red onion, coriander and lots of cheese.
  • Now lay the other 2 slices of bread on top (chutney side down). Spread some butter on top of the sandwich and toast.
  • Once toasted slice the sandwich in 2 or 4, spread some more grated cheese on top and serve with some tomato sauce and green coriander chutney.
