Uber’s arch-Indian rival Ola has arrived in Australia.
After announcing its launch in January, the ride-sharing giant has kicked off its services in Perth, Western Australia.
"Ola, one of the world’s largest ride-sharing platforms, is now available on a limited basis to customers in Perth," Ola said in a statement.
As part of the soft launch offer, Perth-based customers will be given their first two rides free up to the value of AUD 10 per ride, it added.
This is Ola’s first foray outside India.
Founded in 2010, Ola is one of the world’s biggest ride-sharing companies, with more than 900,000 “driver-partners” in 110 cities in India.
“We are very excited about launching Ola in Australia and see immense potential for the ride-sharing ecosystem which embraces new technology and innovation,” Ola co-founder and chief executive Bhavish Aggarwal has said in a statement earlier.
“With a strong focus on driver-partners and the community at large, we aim to create a high-quality and affordable travel experience for citizens and look forward to contributing to a healthy mobility ecosystem in Australia.”
