Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country after widespread protests over his leadership, but has not formally resigned. The looming economic crisis in Sri Lanka seems to have brought down the Rajapaksa government and ended his political rule, which has dominated the country's politics for almost two decades.
