Dabeli is one of the most commonly found street food snack in Gujarat. A snack of spiced mashed potatoes with a bunch of mouthwatering toppings sandwiched between grilled pav. Here's an easy recipe by Noni Sachdeva.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped tomato
  • 4 tbl butter
  • 4 dinner rolls/pav
  • ½ cup coriander
  • 2 tbl dabeli masala
  • 2 cups boiled mashed potato
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tbl sugar
  • 1 tbl lemon juice
  • Water
  • ½ cup tamarind chutney 
  • ½ cup chilli garlic chutney
  • ½ cup pomegranate
  • ½ cup spiced peanuts
  • ½ cup finely chopped onions
  • ½ cup sev

Method

  • In a pan add butter. After it melts add onion.
  • Cook till it turns translucent then add tomato.
  • Cook this mixture till the tomato and onion is fully cooked.
  • Now add, dabeli masala powder, salt, sugar, lemon juice cook for about 2 mins and add boiled mashed potato & water. Mix everything well and transfer in a serving bowl.
  • Sprinkle some coriander, spiced peanuts, sev and pomegranate on top of the dabeli potato mixture.
  • Slit the dinner roll and apply tamarind chutney and chilli garlic chutney inside the roll.
  • Add dabeli potato mixture and some finely chopped onion.
  • Toast the roll with some butter on both sides.
  • Sprinkle some sev on the roll and serve hot.
